Samsung launches S5560, a multi feature smartphone

9th November 2009

Samsung has launched yet another touchscreen handset called the Samsung S5560 in Europe, as reported by IntoMobile. This latest Samsung handset looks pretty much the same as the company’s previous handset. Apparently, the Samsung S5560 resembles the Samsung’s S5230 and S5600. The handset boasts of a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display besides quite a few other advanced features. The device is believed to shun 3G connectivity in favour of quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity while packing a standard 3.5mm headset jack and a FM radio tuner.

This Samsung handset also offers support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity along with an integrated 5 megapixel camera which claims to capture all the special moments in bright and vivid colors. The internal memory of this handset can be further expanded through a microSD memory card by 16GB. The phone is said to provide up to 9.5 hours of talktime which says a lot about its battery backup.

The Samsung S5560 is all set to hit the European markets somewhere next month and is expected to retail for around €300 when it releases. It seems as though low priced or “budget” touch phones seem to be becoming a more and more significant part of the mobile phone market, and Wi Fi is of course the most desired feature for most consumers; although the Samsung S5560 is also going to come sporting a 5 mega pixel camera along with auto focus, smile detection and, a nice little feature, blink detection – so it really won’t seem all that low end to users; especially when one considers that many mid range mobile phones currently only use a 3 mega pixel camera.

Lately, as has been noticed by trade experts, Samsung have been popping up in the news frequently; largely because it seems that the company can’t go a month without announcing yet another new addition to their already extensive line up of handsets. However even with all such announcements being (frequently) made, the Samsung S5560 has remained unofficial; in spite of the fact that it is allegedly due to go on sale as early as November, and has already popped up on a French mobile phone retailer’s website.
